Looking for vocabulary?

If you've lost your vocabulary worksheet for the week, or are trying to get a jump on next week's words, you'll find them posted under the "Handouts" section over on the right. I'll post the new week's words by Friday.

What are you reading?

It's a good thing I'm an English teacher, otherwise I'd have no excuse for getting caught up in trendy adolescent lit. all the time. The up side is that I feel like a little bit of an expert who is allowed to give you recommendations. (Alright, you might not view that as an upside...)  Anyway, here are a few books that I've enjoyed recently:

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins--soooooo good. Not girly at all, but I'm a girl and I loved it. Check out the buzz about it here and read it fast because the sequel comes out September 1st. Not that I'm keeping track or anything.

Peeps or just about anything by Scott Westerfeld. He's an amazing author that does really fascinating, easy-to-read sci-fi. The Uglies series is great too.

Okay, this may be passé, but if you've been living under a rock and haven't read the Twilight series, you should. Good stuff.
